In order to find a poem for this daily create, I went on Google and searched “simple poem in Italian” and scrolled through until I found this one that was in Italian and did not include a translation. I then racked my brain for all of the words I could remember from my high school Italian classes. I did my best to translate it but I clearly do not remember a whole lot- I am proud of getting the basic concept correct, though. Then to get the actual translation of the poem, I used Google translate. I typed the poem in and took a screenshot of the result it gave me.

This Daily Create was about trees. We had to find a tree and either write about it or just post the picture. I decided to make a short poem that describes the scene about when it happened. This occurred during the wind storm a few months ago. This happened around 5am and I was getting ready to go into fieldwork when I heard this crack and a huge thump.  However, it was still super dark outside and I couldn’t see anything when I opened my door. Once it became lighter outside, I was able to see what you can see in this picture. It is now no longer a part of the backyard as we had to get someone to remove it so my neighbor’s car could be moved. It’s pretty difficult to see in the picture, but my neighbor’s car is inches next to the fallen tree. It just barely missed it when it fell.

I thought this Daily Create was fun!  Although, it’s a little odd to make something for people that you don’t know.  I kept looking online for inspiration and I found a few photos that had puns with them, but I didn’t have any inspiration on how to make them mine in order to send it off.  I also thought that I could make a GIF, but I don’t know how to do that. So, I had to keep thinking.

After a long time of researching, I decided to forget finding something to change and to make something myself.  I love poetry of all sorts and I decided to make a short poem.  I’ve never been married and I wasn’t sure of what kind of “advice” I could give to people who don’t know me.  I thought a poem would be a nice and original way to wish people a happy marriage.

I used Word to write the poem and took a screenshot of the words so it could go on Twitter easily. Originally, I was on Canva, which is an online card making website, but the website didn’t have enough tools for what I wanted.  I decided to make everything simple as to not overpower the words. I thought it turned out okay! I’m more partial to rhymes, but I’m trying to get into writing poems that can be more open and less confined, which is how I see rhyming poems.
