Left at Gooch's. Winter 2016.
Maine winter swell, 2015-16. The water temp hovers around 36 degrees and getting to the break involves climbing over snow banks. But who cares with surf this big and clean?

Living in Maine means loving the outdoors. At least that’s how I am coming to see the state. In the summer, it is simply too beautiful to stay inside. The beaches are awesome; the rivers and lakes are at least as fun. The woods are inviting in all four seasons. It’s certainly cold in the long, dark winter months. But the cold and limited daylight make getting outdoors even more important. The snow-covered landscape completely changes the experience of the outdoors, and the Vacationland crowds disappear in winter, opening up a world of possibility.

Of course, working at a campus with gorgeous ocean views from the mouth of the Saco River makes it a little easier to see the bright side of even the darkest months.
